Surge protective devices

Surge Protective Devices are designed to protect against transient surge conditions. Large single surge events, such as lightning, can reach hundreds of thousands of volts and can cause immediate or intermittent equipment failure. However, lightning and utility power anomalies only account for 20% of transient surges. The remaining 80% of surge activity is produced internally. Although these surges may be smaller in magnitude, they occur more frequently and with continuous exposure can degrade sensitive electronic equipment within the facility.

Surge Protection Devices SPD Class I

OVR type 1 and type 1+2 are designed to discharge high current surges without any destruction of the installation. This surge protective device is chararcterized by its capacity to withstand impulse current with 10/350 µs wave form which simulate direct impact coming from a natural lightning current. Type 1 and Type 1+2 SPDs are placed at the entrance point of the installation, in the main distribution board for a global protection of this installation.

OVR T1-T2 12.5, T2 and T2-T3 ranges are using same terminal as Pro M compact devices to guarantee a complete coordination and time saving in wiring operation.

The pluggable feature of OVR pluggable surge protective devices (SPDs) facilitates maintenance. Should one or more worn cartridges need to be replaced, the wires do not have to be removed.

The end-of-life indicator of the SPD signals the status of the device. A mechanical indicator turns from green to red when the SPD reaches the end of its life, when the end-of-life indicator is fitte

Type 1+2 surge protective devices are designed to discharge high current surges without any destruction of the installation. These surge protective devices are characterized by their capacity to withstand impulse current with 10/350 µs wave form which simulate natural lightning current. Type 1+2  surge protective devices have a high impulse current withstand capacity with ensuring a low protection level (Up). Type 1+2 SPDs can be installed at the entrance in the main switch board for a global protection of the electrical installation.
