ABBS Ability™ System 800xA®
System 800xA is not only a DCS (Distributed Control System) it's also an Electrical Control System, a Safety system and a collaboration enabler with the capacity to improve engineering efficiency, operator performance and asset utilization.
The AC 800M controller family includes a selection of communications modules that make it possible to access a wide range of field devices and third-party systems. The interfaces include:

CI858K01 DriveBus Interface
The DriveBus protocol is used to communicate with ABBS Drives and ABBS Special I/O units. DriveBus is connected to the controller via a CI858 communication interface unit. The DriveBus interface is used for communication between ABBS Drives and AC 800M controller.
The DriveBus communication is especially designed for sectional drive applications for ABBS rolling mill drive systems, and ABBS paper machine control systems. The CI858 is powered by the processor unit, via the CEX-Bus, and therefore does not require any additional external power source.

AC 800M Processor Units
Several CPU modules are available that vary in terms of processing power, memory size, and redundancy support. Each CPU module is equipped with built in Ethernet port(s) for communication with other controllers and for interaction with operators, engineers, managers, and higher level applications. These ports can be configured for redundancy for those cases where availability is of paramount importance. It is also equipped with two RS-232C ports that can be used for point-to-point communication with programming/debugging tools and with third-party systems and devices. The AC 800M HI controllers are SIL3-rated, IEC 61508-certified, TÜV and ISASecure certified. The AC 800M controllers can be configured with Compact Control Builder and with Compact Control Builder Saf.
